Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
Equipment Maintained
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy and light vehicles and equipment in accordance with the Navy’s 3M Maintenance Program
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Conduct routine services including:
- Oil and filter changes
- Fluid inspections and replacements
- Tire repair and replacement
- Brake inspections and repairs
- Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Complete and sign 3M maintenance work reports documenting work performed, deficiencies, and recommendations
- Research and provide parts ordering information to Government personnel
- Maintain high-quality workmanship with minimal rework or quality deficiencies
- Follow all safety, environmental, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Assist with project schedules, cost estimates, and technical evaluations as needed
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, Government representatives, and team members
- Mechanics may work on equipment including, but not limited to:
- HMMWVs (Humvees)
- MTVRs (Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements)
- Bulldozers
- Front-end loaders
- Graders
- KALMAR Rough Terrain Cargo Handlers (RTCH)
- Forklifts
- Gasoline generators and light plants
- Buses
- Pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs
- Material handling and construction equipment
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Education and Certifications Ability to successfully complete Navy 3M Maintenance Program training Valid driver’s license required

- Experience Journeyman-level experience as a heavy gasoline or heavy equipment mechanic Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing: Gasoline engines Hydraulics Electrical systems Gasoline-powered equipment Heavy tracked and wheeled construction equipment Gasoline-powered generators
