Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All rates are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
- Check the temperature of the iron every half hour.
- Remove slag from iron, utilizing a skimmer.
- After each pouring, add a can of blacking into chute and trough.
- Remove build-up from quad ladle as needed.
- Always keep the quad ladle full.
- Ensure the trough is heated properly before commencing.
- While mold is spinning, apply grease on spigot ring using a brush.
- Remove the iron from spigot ring and spill tray.
- Remove sliver from trough.
- Remove all build-up of iron, slag, blacking from trough.
- Apply blacking as needed to prevent iron from sticking.
- Keep open communication with Iron Pourer, Trough-person and Machine Operator.
- Inspect casting machine mold for defects.
- Inspect and place each core on the casting machine.
- Utilize control panels to operate machines.
- Inspect and mark each pipe.
- Perform all Pipe Maker duties for relief purposes.
