- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic mathematical ability and understanding is required to successfully perform tank measurements, read gauges, set up product transfers into and out of tanks. This includes the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, etc.
- Requires knowledge of refined product characteristics, measurement and safe handling practices.
- Mechanical abilities or experience with operating equipment is a plus.
- Experience operating with modern HMI control systems is a plus.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with co- workers, supervisors, internal and external customers.
- Must be able to take responsibility.
- Ability to understand and perform reasonably complicated written procedures.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, periodic overtime, and on a call-out basis when needed
- Strong safety ethic is a must.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
- Vocational training or relevant certifications preferred.
- Prior experience in hazardous material facility operations is preferred.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone keypad.
- Must have the ability to lift, move and carry toolkits, hoses and other objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to ascend and descend narrow stairs.
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.
- May regularly be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and working environment.
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
- As work volume fluctuates, must have ability to work weekends, holidays and shift work during a vessel receipt or as required.
