Work Environment
The job is located on the production floor. Could involve extended periods of standing or walking; or sitting while using a computer or other devices are common. There will be exposure to moving vehicles, and equipment and machines. There will also be use of a computer and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required.
This is an onsite position.
Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
- Six sigma green belt or higher certification.
- Prior work experience in an ISO (22000, 9000, 14001, etc.) management system.
- Certifications in leadership development.
- Forklift operator and / or material handling equipment license.

- Ensure safety policies are followed
- Ensures safety and housekeeping of the assigned area and that all employees meet company established safety and quality requirements.
- Meeting / exceeding the assigned cells expected monthly output and revenue targets (daily/weekly) set by the monthly Production Plan while adhering to the Plan.
- Daily follow up, review and actions to ensure all direct labor employees adhere to the clock-in / clock-out required steps while working on orders.
- Accurate material inventory (WIP and RAW) on the floor, inventory.
- Manage the cost of quality with regard to scrap, customer returns, and / or corrective actions.
- Cross-train all personnel in your departments, and other areas of the organization.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Responsible for maintaining acceptable quality levels for all assigned products.
- Ensure operators receive required training and periodically evaluates employees to ensure they are meeting production standards and metrics. Training/cross-training to be up to date on the HR system.
- Organize workflow and makes corrections to ensure production plan is achieved.
- Assures that established policy, rules, regulations, and procedures are followed.
- Use problem solving methods (DMAIC) to continuously improve quality, safety, and efficiency of manufacturing cells.
- Distributes department status reports and reviews with a cross functional team.
- Comprehends product specifications and other required documentation assigned.
- Reports any process and/or equipment problems.
- Troubleshoots problems as needed.
- Evaluates team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions.
- Ensure daily and accurate employee transfers between cells on the time clock system.
- Cascades relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner.
- Coaches and mentors for skill and knowledge development.
- Executes necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement.
- Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices, and department standards.
- Assigns actions and ensure completion.
- Reviews work quality and provide feedback and guidance to team.
Required
- Associate degree from a two-year accredited college or technical school; equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working in a production / manufacturing environment.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in various leadership roles and / or supervisory roles.
- Six Sigma yellow belt certification
- Demonstration of progressive roles.
- Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of equipment, tooling, and processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, 5S and Continuous Improvement concepts.
- Prior use with various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and/or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) systems.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints to the extent required to instruct production personnel with adequate clarity and detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some travel may be required but will be minimal if any.
