- Inspects work quality and materials used in a variety of public works projects for compliance with building and construction standards and codes, ordinances and regulations
- Previews plans and specifications for the assigned project prior to inspection
- Prepare daily construction progress reports and progress pay estimates
- Observes work during progress and upon completion. Ensures that safety procedures are followed. Coordinates change orders and advises contractors of changes in plans and specifications with assistance from a construction inspector supervisor
- A strong interpersonal, management, and excellent communications skills with the unique ability to be able to transfer these concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with the development community and internal City staff
- Coordinates construction inspection activities with other city departments, including gas, telephone, and electrical utilities and related operational areas
- Performs preliminary and final inspections on routine construction projects
- Acts as liaison between contractors and the general public with respect to various construction projects
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driverβs license
- Experience in the interpretation of plans and specifications in the construction of infrastructure projects
- Experience with paving restoration, HMAC and Concrete, and underground utilities
- MS Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills
