- Lead global sourcing strategy for capital equipment across all Redwood facilities
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle: requirements definition, RFQ/RFP development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contract execution, and purchase order management.
- Develop and maintain a competitive, qualified supplier base capable of supporting Redwood's aggressive capacity expansion roadmap.
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions through supplier negotiations, design-for-cost initiatives, and strategic sourcing levers.
- Build and lead team that works closely with Engineering, Finance, and Project Management on equipment specifications, lead times, and acceptance criteria.
- Leading and participating in research and development to meet strategic objectives
- Lead design concept/development efforts, working directly with engineers to vet/validate multiple different proposed solutions.
- Define engineering workflows and plans for the team.
- Finalize design scope from initial concepts and budgets, define initial assumptions.
- Partner with the project management team to identify and document all project design milestones and deliverables.
- Continuously monitor and measure all project design processes and activities to identify and communicate potential issues, risks, and problems and provide corrective action options to drive to resolution.
- Collaborates with internal teams to develop and implement strategies, tactical and operational plans for the procurement of consumables and specialty materials required for all applications and product development
- Reviews and analyzes activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine the company’s progress toward stated goals of the project team, including business, financial, and schedule goals and objectives
- Coordinates activities with contractors, suppliers and vendors including contract management and negotiations, RFP management and negotiations, change order management, schedule adherence, developing bidder’s lists, bid leveling, create and manage Purchase Requests and Purchase Orders
- Makes and/or executes decisions on project purchases
- Oversees and coordinates development activities between suppliers and development teams to ensure overall sourcing and procurement is aligned with corporate directives
- Travel as required at company expense
- Work with the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Finance teams to identify opportunities for cost reductions and avoidance
- Create and implement targeted category strategies supported by robust analysis and research
- Develop and deploy spend management policies, processes, and best practices; monitor and manage internal compliance
- Lead selection, evaluation, and management of key suppliers
- Negotiate and execute contracts with key suppliers
- Identify and manage relationships with strategic suppliers
- Design and track procurement KPIs, metrics, and dashboards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic capital equipment suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships grounded in performance, quality, and innovation.
- Conduct regular supplier business reviews (QBRs) to assess performance against KPIs including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost.
- Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to diversify the supply base and reduce single-source risk.
- Manage supplier escalations and resolve disputes in a timely, professional manner.
- Coordinate international and domestic equipment shipments, including import/export compliance, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and final-mile delivery to site.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Teams to align equipment delivery schedules with construction and commissioning timelines.
- Maintain accurate procurement trackers, milestone dashboards, and spend reporting for executive visibility.
- Support the capital expenditure (CapEx) planning process with accurate lead time, pricing, and supplier capacity data.
- Develop and continuously improve sourcing policies, procurement workflows, and supplier qualification standards specific to capital equipment.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with Redwood's Code of Conduct, ESG commitments, and relevant trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC where applicable).
- Champion digital tools and data-driven decision-making within the supply chain function.
- Mentor and develop junior supply chain team members; build organizational capability over time.

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive supply chain or procurement experience, with at least 4 years focused on capital equipment in a manufacturing, energy, or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value capital equipment procurements.
- Strong knowledge of global supplier landscapes for industrial machinery, process equipment, or battery manufacturing equipment.
- Proven negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings and favorable contract terms.
- Experience with international logistics, incoterms, customs, and trade compliance.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and procurement tools.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Strong communication and executive presence; comfortable presenting to leadership and stakeholders.
- Master's degree (MBA or MS in Engineering/Supply Chain) or equivalent advanced credentials.
- Experience in battery manufacturing, semiconductor, chemical processing, or energy transition industries.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent certification.
- Experience in a high-growth startup or greenfield manufacturing environment.
- Fluency in Mandarin, German, or Japanese (a plus given key supplier geographies).
- Familiarity with sustainability sourcing frameworks, conflict minerals compliance, or responsible sourcing standards.
