Qualifications
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or equivalent experience (typically 3–4 years).
- Industrial Mechanic/Millwright trade certification (voluntary in Ontario but preferred).
- Belt technician or conveyor‑specific training (vulcanizing/splicing) is an asset.
- Valid Ontario safety training: Working at Heights, WHMIS, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout (as required).
- Strong understanding of conveyor system components: rollers, drives, pulleys, belt storage units, tensioners, and booster drives.
- Experience with belt splicing, mechanical repairs, gearbox maintenance, and tensioning systems.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, conveyor schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (asset), and alignment instruments.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, steep grades, long tunnels, and noisy environments.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks and working extended shifts underground.
- Familiarity with muck removal logistics and TBM support systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, especially under time‑sensitive conditions during TBM production.
- Clear communication within multi‑disciplinary tunnelling teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a rotating shift crew.
