Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts for large-scale, technically complex projects in GMP environments, including cleanrooms, laboratories, and manufacturing facilities.
- Develop and validate HVAC system layouts, ensuring proper pressurization, airflow control, and environmental compliance.
- Oversee the integration of refrigeration, plumbing, and fire protection systems into cohesive MEP designs.
- Perform and review engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system selections.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, process engineers, and construction teams.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling from concept through construction.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews and lead design documentation efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Engineer with the ability to get licensed in the state of Florida (required)
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on MEP systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in GMP facility design, including cleanroom classifications and HVAC pressurization strategies. Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design tools (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
- In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices (LEED, WELL, etc.).
- Experience with design-build or EPCM project delivery models.
