Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, service, and inspect commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
- Perform device installation, wiring, terminations, and system testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
- Program, configure, and commission fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
- Conduct system inspections and functional testing to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
- Diagnose and repair system deficiencies and document all work performed.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Provide recommendations regarding system performance, upgrades, and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate service reports, installation documentation, and inspection records.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and maintain a clean and professional work environment, including company vehicles and job sites.
- Deliver excellent customer service through professional communication and technical support.
- Work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience installing, servicing, or maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and applicable local fire and building codes.
- Experience reading construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
- Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems and identify system deficiencies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work as required.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Experience programming fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Gamewell-FCI, Honeywell, Edwards, Siemens, or Fire-Lite.
- NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level I, II, or higher).
- Experience with low-voltage systems including Access Control, CCTV, Burglar Alarm, or Security Systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working in commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, or multi-site environments.
